Colchicine is a medicine and it can be used orally or IV. The liquid colchicine works faster so you can take it with food (especially pasta). However, if you are having pain due to an infection or surgery, colchicine should probably be taken with a full glass of water. Otherwise, normal swallowing reflexes usually carry it safely down to the intestines as well.
