From the mid-17th century, stagecoaches began to go by way of Slough and Salt Hill (later on absorbed into Slough), which turned destinations for the 2nd stage to transform horses on the journey out from London. Named neighbourhoods involve Brands Hill, Britwell, Huntercombe, Manor Park, Salt Hill, Upton Lea and Windsor Meadows.
