The reading taken at most doctors' offices is usually taken the wrong way. They usually take your reading immediately upon taking you to a waiting room, not when you're rested. You may even be seated on an examination table with your feet not resting on the floor. The reading at a clinic can be higher than normal because of a phenomenon called "white coat hypertension" (believed to be caused by anxiety).
